Punjab Police Department Introduce Women Safety App, #punjabpolice #department #introduce #womensafetyapp #pakistan

In response to an increase in incidents of harassment against women, the Punjab Police Department has launched an app that allows women to contact authorities in an emergency.

The “Women Safety App” allows women to alert Police Emergency Helpline 15 with the click of a button. It also shares the complaint’s coordinates with the authorities, allowing them to readily find the complainant.

The app also has an Emergency Live Chat for women’s help. It also allows users to contact the Punjab Highway Patrol and Motorway Police in case of an emergency.

It also displays all of the secure, partially secure, and unsecured locations on the map based on other women’s reviews. Women may also leave evaluations about any location using the app.

What does it do?

The application’s major feature is its “panic button,” which may notify law enforcement authorities of an instance of gender-based violence at a specific place. Aside from that, the program gives users access to the following phone numbers: Punjab Police Emergency Helpline 15, Rescue 1122, Punjab Highway Patrol, and Motorway Police.

Furthermore, the app features an ‘emergency live chat’ function, however, it is unclear if this is a chatbot or a service managed by Punjab Police officers. Our team believed that the part on laws pertaining to violence and harassment needs to be translated into Urdu as well and that it could use additional visual/video-based information to make the laws more accessible. Finally, the program crowdsources safety evaluations of various sites around the province, enabling users to rank locales as “secure,” “somewhat secure,” or “not secure” based on their own personal experiences.
