A group of nine Pakistani students from the Institute of Space Technology in Islamabad recently won first place in a drone competition at Turkey’s prestigious Aerospace and Technology Festival, the International Free Mission UAV Competition (TEKNOFEST).

TEKNOFEST attracted over 240 teams from all over the world.
This year’s TEKNOFEST drone competition was held in Bursa, with over 240 teams from over 85 countries competing. IST competed in the event as well, being Pakistan’s pioneer institute in Aerospace Science and Engineering. *Awards were given to Pakistani students.
Pakistani Students Were Rewarded with a 36,000 Turkish Lira Cash Prize
The team of Pakistani students took first place in the silver category and finished fourth overall in the TEKNOFEST competition. A monetary prize of 36,000 Turkish Lira was also awarded to the IST team. In the drone competition, the claimed Pakistani students built an AI-based conquering solution for Human Search and Rescue missions using a swarm of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles.
Furthermore, the TEKNOFEST UAVs built by a group of Pakistani students were specifically intended for optimum path outlining and human identification in post-disaster circumstances. Intelligent unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) can scan a catastrophe region for injured individuals from a height of 30 to 50 meters. These unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) provide high-level solutions for search and rescue operations.

Drones are Cost-Effective and Compact
In comparison to the usual helicopter plan for rescue operations, the Pakistani-developed drones are cost-effective and small, and have been hailed as an incredibly efficient option. The Republic of Turkey’s Ministry of Industry and Technology held the TEKNOFEST drone competition. Every year, it features a range of activities, including technical contests, air demonstrations, and interviews, and it is one of the world’s largest aerospace events.
