Pakistani Cricketer Left-Arm Fast Bowler “Wahab Riaz”

 

Profile:

Wahab Riaz is a cricketer from Pakistan. He is a right-handed batsman and a left-arm quick bowler. He regularly bowls at speeds of around 90 mph (144.8 km/h), with a top speed of 96 mph (154 km/h). His all-round performance in the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup gained him international acclaim. He was one of 33 players handed a central contract by the Pakistan Cricket Board for the 2018–19 season in August 2018. (PCB). Riaz declared in September 2019 that he would be retiring from red-ball cricket to focus on the lesser versions of the game. Before Pakistan’s tour to England in June 2020, Riaz stated that he was willing to play Test cricket again.

Early life and family:

Riaz was born on the 28th of June in the year 1985. He was born to businessman Muhammad Sikandar Riaz Kasana (63/sp). He received his education at Lahore’s elite Aitchison College. Riaz has a daughter named Eshal with his wife Zainab Chaudhary.

Career:

Domestic Career:

Wahab Riaz began his playing career in 2000, when he was picked for the Asia Cup at the age of seventeen. He was also a member of the Pakistani under-19 team. In 2007, he joined the Lahore Lions to begin his first-class career. He has also represented Lahore Lions, Lahore Whites, Lahore Region, National Bank of Pakistan, KPK XI, Baluchistan XI, Pakistan, and a number of other teams.

International Career:

Wahab Riaz made his test debut against England in August 2010. He was chosen for the team because of his high bowling pace. He was a good fast bowler because of his fast bowling pace.

PSL career: 

Wahab Riaz was named by Peshawar Zalmi in the first Pakistan Super League in 2016. At the end of the 2017 PSL season, Peshawar Zalmi re-signed him. Wahab Riaz was the tournament’s best wicket-taker, with 30 wickets in 19 games.

Wahab has played in the Caribbean Premier League, Bangladesh Premier League, Mzansi Super League, Afghanistan Premier League, Global T20 League Canada, and many more major cricket competitions throughout the world. Wahab Riaz’s bowling against Shane Waston drew a lot of acclaim from cricket fans and legends alike. That was one of the most memorable moments of the 2015 World Cup. He was named Man of the Match in the 2015 World Cup after scoring 54 runs in 46 balls. After being named by the Pakistan Cricket Board, he was included on the list of Pakistan’s squads for the 2019 World Cup.

He was nominated to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s squad for the 2019 Pakistan Cup in March 2019. With ten dismissals in five games, he was the tournament’s joint-leading wicket-taker.

2015 Cricket World Cup:

After the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) named their final fifteen-man roster for the tournament in January 2015, he was named in Pakistan’s team for the 2015 Cricket World Cup. He grabbed one wicket each against India and the West Indies in Pakistan’s first two matches. He then had a man of the match performance against Zimbabwe, scoring 54 not out off 46 balls while taking four wickets. I took two wickets against the UAE. He then went on to take three wickets against South Africa. In Pakistan’s final group game, he got three wickets against Ireland. He took the wicket of Australia’s captain Michael Clarke in the quarterfinal encounter.

Riaz’s spell against Australia drew praise from a number of former and current cricketers, with Michael Clarke calling Riaz’s performance “as excellent as I’ve seen in ODI cricket for a long time” and Kevin Pietersen calling it “the best spell of bowling by a foreigner on Aussie territory for years.”

Following the contest, Riaz became a Twitter sensation. “I want to meet with this Riaz person,” Brian Lara tweeted, adding that he will pay Riaz’s fine levied by the ICC for his verbal altercation with Watson. Riaz later invited Brian Lara to Pakistan via Twitter.

2019 Cricket World Cup:

After the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revealed their final fifteen-man roster for the tournament in May 2019, he was named in Pakistan’s team for the 2019 Cricket World Cup.
He was a regular starter throughout the tournament, taking 11 wickets in eight games with a strike rate of 36.3 balls and an economy rate of 6 runs per over.
During the competition, he passed Imran Khan’s 34 wickets to become Pakistan’s second highest wicket-taker in World Cup history.

T20 franchise career:

In the 2016 Pakistan Super League player draught, Riaz was assigned to the Platinum category. For the 2016 competition, Peshawar Zalmi paid $140,000 for him.

Riaz had a verbal altercation and a physical altercation with Quetta Gladiators batsman Ahmed Shehzad during a group stage match in 2016. Both players received a fine from the Pakistan Cricket Board, as well as an official warning.r scoring 54 runs in 46 balls. He was included to Pakistan’s World Cup squad in 2019. On August 30, 2016, he gave up 110 runs in his allotted 10 overs, the second-worst bowling statistic in ODI history.
